The secret to have good skin is to have a good skincare routine.
I think that’s my first advice. To have good skincare products, drink water and eat healthy.
I try hard to keep my skin clear and after finding some really effective skincare products (you can read about them here, here and here) I can say my skin is looking good. But as we all know, hormones and food can definitely have an impact and nobody is immune to a hormonal or dairy breakout.
To make sure my skin looks great whatever condition it is, I make sure to use a good foundation. When the weather started getting colder in November, I’d noticed that my foundations were no longer doing the trick. They were amazing, but as they were aimed at my oilier skin, it wasn’t working. As I’m getting older, I’ve noticed that my skin is less and less oily so I was in need of a new foundation. Yippeeee finally an excuse to shop!
When doing some research, I was highly attracted to the Giorgio Armani Luminous silk foundation. As soon as I tried it on, I fell in love.
First, the shade.
Not going to lie, I was very apprehensive about the color shade. When I had swatched it in store, the artificial lighting was so blue and strong that I could not really see well (and the store was in the center of the shopping center so I could not really pop outside). I had switched 4 and 4.5 and they seemed too light so after a few more frantic online research, I decided on 5. I’m leaving you the link of the Sephora website’s page, at the end of the page there’s a little table that recaps the shades and the undertone. 5 is actually a perfect match for me (I definitely sighed of relief when I tried it on for the first time!)
The Giorgio Armani Luminous silk foundation has a medium (definitely build-able), natural coverage formula. It comes out more on the liquid-y side and feels super lightweight on the skin. I’m baffled overtime I use it at how much it looks like skin. My skin doesn’t feel suffocated and I haven’t experienced any breakouts from this foundation.
The lasting power?
This foundation lasts well. Every night I feel sad when I have to take off my makeup. It’s so natural that I always feel like I have nothing on – well, I mean I can tell from how perfected my skin looks. It works perfectly with any concealer, powder and cream products I’ve used on top. Yaaas, queen! (Jonathan, ily)
This product is not the cheapest (€53,99 for 30ml) and I took advantage of a 25% off offer to get it but I absolutely don’t regret it. I only use about 2 pumps of this for all over my face – and by the way, each pump is such a perfect amount of product, one for a first all-over the skin application, and an extra one for my cheeks where I have a bit more uneven skin and scaring. Because of how little product you need, I think this bottle would last me for a while and with such a good product, I think it’s a great value for money.
A last word?
I am totally obsessed with this product. The fact that it looks so natural makes me feel more confortable when someone is close to my face – personal space, please. I don’t fear that my skin will look cake-y or that the foundation will melt away. No matter how long I keep it on, I feel confident in the fact that I look presentable.
