I’m not one to wear makeup every single day, I’d rather put a little something on to feel good about myself when I feel like it than forcing myself to put on a full face of makeup when I really could not be bothered. Lately I haven’t been wearing it often since I’m home most days and only bother to wear a bit of mascara and concealer when I go to the gym in the morning (no one wants to see my puffy eyes at 9am).
But when I have been putting makeup on, it’s almost always been the same products lately. They are my go-to because I know that they perform well and that I won’t have to check my face every single minute to see how well it has survived another hot day or a full day of wearing it.
I think that the Dior Forever foundation is on my top 3 of my trusty skin products that won’t ever let me down. The formula is great, liquid but not too much, easy to blend and if anything, looks better throughout the day. It has great coverage, helps to minimize the appearance of pores and controls oiliness.
Continuing in the Dior fam, we have the gorgeous 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette in 537 Touch. This one is my trusty nude/elegant/soft go-to palette. The formula of these is dreamy, it blends itself basically, it doesn’t even know how to have kick back it’s so smooth and perfect. I heard somewhere that Lisa Eldridge said that it was proven scientifically as one of the best formulas out there so there you go. What I also love in this palette is how versatile my eye look can be when using it.
Another old favorite is the Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer because who doesn’t like a product that smells like chocolate honestly? Apart from this non-arguable bonus, this product is a well-known favorite in the beauty community. The color is perfect, not too cool toned but not too warm either so you can use it to both contour and bronze the face – genius if you ask me. It lasts really well throughout the day and I’ve never had a problem with it not working with another base product.
Who hasn’t heard of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector highlighting powder? This is such a gorgeous product. It adds the perfect shimmering glow to the face without looking fake or chunky, it doesn’t have glitter in it and looks amazing all day long.
I had been wanting to Maybelline Eye Eraser concealer for the longest time but damn, it was 15€ in France and that’s not a drugstore product. I took advantage of our London trip this summer to pop into a Superdrug and yes indeed, it was £8,99 so 10€ and bam it 5 seconds it was in my basket. Or in my hands because if I dare take a basket it means trouble (usually a store worker will get me one at some point… oopsie). I don’t regret getting it for one second. It blends so well, looks super natural, never looks cakey or creases and for this price, I’m all in for it.
I had never tried a powder from Kiko but when I popped into the shop at the end of July and browsed the sale counter (trouble… i got a few things) I was super intrigued by this baking powder and for the couple euros it ended up costing after the discount, I decided to try it out. And boy am I not disappointed. It’s a loose powder which sometimes can get a bit messy but I haven’t had any problems with this one. The packaging makes it easy to get products through the little holes but not everywhere, it’s translucent but not white and it sets makeup like a dream – no cakey-ness (is that even a word?) and it really helps to set everything it place without taking away the natural glow of the skin but still helps to keep the makeup in place all day and to keep the oiliness at bay.
