I still find myself writing 2019 a lot but honestly, it’s way better that the previous years where I’d write the date of the year before until April. Progress. I was reading and watching a lot of “beauty favorites of 2019” blogposts and videos and I realized that a lot of my 2019 beauty discoveries, I’m still using pretty much everyday in 2020.
It’s such a nice feeling because I hate spending money on something, treating myself to end up not liking or not using the product very much.
I’m also very happy to slowly but surely making a change in my beauty collection by using up non cruelty-free products (if I had known…) for cruelty-free ones and even more clean beauty brands. It’s really something I want to work on this year, it’s even one of my goals for 2020.
Starting with a new one but technically, we were still in 2019, a face roller. I was never really into face rollers to be honest. I felt like massaging with my face with my hands was pretty much the same so why bother. What changed my mind was when I learnt from a doctor and an osteopath that my upper back and neck problems were due to me clenching my jaw a lot. There is not much to be done about it but I could massage my jaw in order to release some of the tension and pain in the muscle. I started doing it with my fingers but it’s hurt after a while (I do have to massage quite strongly). And then I thought hey! Why not get one of those face rollers to massage it. Brilliant. I looked up some on Amazon and found one with a double head that had a round option which is absolutely perfect. It makes such a difference in how I feel during the day. My jaw is way less sore and tense.
The other two skincare products I discovered in 2019 I have mentioned in a previous post. The fact that I’m near out of my Sunday Riley Ultra Clarifying Face oil and Paula’s Choice skin perfecting 2% BHA liquid exfoliant (what a mouthful) says a lot. They are a part of my morning and evening morning routine. The first one makes sure that my face is plump with moisture, brightened and more even and the other one really helps me to get rid of pimples. I take them everywhere I go.
Now, armpits. Yes, I am talking about deodorant. In June, last year (what a crazy thing to say) one of my colleagues told me she was testing out this new deodorant brand that was made of 100% natural ingredients. I was immediately intrigued. I went on their website and pretty much ordered my first tube wishing 2 minutes. And you know what? I haven’t used another deodorant ever since. And I don’t see myself going back at all. I have an entire blogpost explaining everything if you’d like more info. And you should go have a read…
If you follow me on Youtube (and you should…) you’ll know that in early November I did a Full face of first impressions of Honest Beauty and Glossier products. It was a massive success and they are pretty much the only products I’ve been using ever since. But the three products that really stand out and that are the best to create a super natural look are the Honest Beauty cream foundation, the Glossier haloscope highlighter, the Glossier lash slick mascara and Glossier Generation G lipsticks. I am absolutely addicted and find it impossible to use anything else. Again, I am so obsessed I wrote en entire blogpost talking about every product in detail after testing them out for a few weeks. I think they are my favorite beauty discoveries of 2019.
In 2020, I also want to dive deep into more clean beauty brands. I am massively into being careful about the ingredients of the products I use and how they were made. Hint hint at a new video coming soon….
