Money, money, money, must be funny, in a reach
men’s woman’s world…
That’s not my world right now. I’m still waiting on my July paycheck, spain was a bit expensive and I still don’t know if I’ll have a job for September.
But before all of that, I took advantage of the end of the sales in Sephor and Kiko and grabbed a few things at Superdrug in London and it’s time for the big reveal.
The old favorites
I took advantage of going to Superdrug to grab some old favorites that are more expensive in France – even with after changing to euros.
I think everyone and their mailman (made that one up) has heard of how amazing the Collection last perfection concealer is so naturally I had to buy a new one. At £4 the tube, of course I needed to get it, I even got two shades, in number 1 for under my eyes and 2 for the rest of the face. Needless to say I love it.
Another one I wanted to get was the Rimmel Brow this way brow gel in brown as I didn’t have any brow product. I know, I’m ashamed. My NYX brow pomade is drying out and it’s becoming difficult not get stripes of fake brow hairs so this has been great. I do have to be careful with the application but I love how natural it looks.
A few Kiko bits
Kiko sales are what dreams are made of, they had a 3 for 2 for all counters and special sales for specific products, even new ranges so I just had to, right?
I picked up the Gold Waves blush in 03 Damask Mauve, a gorgeous sheeny mauve-y rose blush which is quite pigmented and massive – and I love the packaging, it doesn’t feel expensive but it kind of looks expensive. I think this one was something like 30 or 50% off.
The other blush that caught my eye is the Green Me blush in 02 Coral view. This one is less pigmented and more like a highlight-y blush. It’s a beautiful coral pink and gives a nice healthy glow-y look to the cheeks. If your skin tone is quite deep, you could probably also use this as a gorgeous pink highlight, it’d look amazing. This one was 70% so about 2,5€ which is a bargain.
Then I wandered around the sales counter and came across their Baking powder which was quite cheap as well so I decided to purchase it as it was 50% to 70% off. I got it in 01 and I have to say I am very impressed with this. The packaging is great, the powder doesn’t fly around when you open the plastic lid and it just does a great job at powdering the face without looking cake-y, taking the glow away or setting into lines. Perfect, totally recommend it.
My new treasure finds
This category brings light to my soul. Okay, let’s not be dramatic and all but these products have blown me away.
First off, Sephora. I went there wanting to get a look around for last minute sale bits and ended up buying the Zoeva voyage palette that I was eyeing online for ages (see review here) and was looking at the travel size area they had set up for the holidays – which was full of the cutest little things ever – and my heart stopped when I saw the Becca shimmering skin perfector pressed mini highlighter. I had been wanting to try it for ages and thought that at least with the mini I would not waste my money on the full size if let’s say the color didn’t match. I love it. So much. It looks incredible and gives the most beautiful sheen. I decided to go for Moonstone and I don’t regret it one bit.
Next up is the Maybelline The Eraser concealer. I remember this as being so hyped a few years ago and I now understand why. The product basically blends itself into the skin like literally I put it under my eyes, around the nose, chin and middle of brows (instead of wearing foundation these days) and by the time I go to blend under the eyes it’s basically already blent. The coverage is great, color match perfect (I got mine in Light), it doesn’t crease or look orange-y. Perfection.
Whilst in London I also got my hands on a Burt’s Bees lip balm and damn this stuff is good. First of all it I really like the smell, it gets minty after a few seconds and I swear it helps to plump up my lips. It lasts ages, doesn’t give that disgusting line after a while on the inside of the lips and does an incredible job at moisturizing the lips. Love at first try.
Lastly, the start of the glow: the l’Oréal Glow Mon Amour drop highlighting drops in Sparkling Love. I had heard so many beauty gurus rave about this and didn’t quite get it at first. It comes as a dropper which is very fun to use but the best thing is that one drop is actually a lot of products so you don’t need to use that much. I think it’s the same kind of product as the Flawless filter in the sense that you can use this as a base to get a natural flow beneath foundation, you can mix it in your foundation or use this to highlight some areas of your face. It’s so gorgeous and one drop goes a long way so I’m sure not to use this too quickly. Such an incredible affordable product.
