It’s the Little Things

I’m a big believer in the fact that happiness is adding up all the little things in your life that make you happy. It’s not one big achievement, it’s lots of small moments that bring you joy. 

Happiness can be found every day, it’s not a constant feeling, it’s small moments that make you feel content and fulfilled. 

For me, it’s walking into the apartment and seeing how spacious and bright it is.

It’s seeing my boyfriend and realizing how much I’ve missed him, how funny he is and how comfortable he makes me feel and puts a smile on my face.

It’s going back to my parents and hugging them, bursting of laughter at my sister’s wit and cuddling with my dog.

It’s opening the shutters in the morning and looking at the incredible view we have all over the apartment.

It’s taking my time in the morning and evening to do my skincare routine.

It’s watching a (or more likely a few) episodes of Friends in the evening.

It’s doing my makeup and letting my creativity deciding for the look I want to go for.

It’s spending an entire weekend afternoon reading a thriller.

It’s making breakfast in the morning and enjoying the smell of food that’s going to fill my rumbling tummy.

It’s lying in bed at night after a long day, reading my book whilst my boyfriend strokes my back.

It’s the smell of pizza.

It’s looking at flowers, finally reminding us that brighter days are coming.

It’s the sound of birds cheeping.

It’s the sight of a dog. I love dogs.

It’s someone commenting on a blogpost or a tweet.

It’s the feeling I get during and after a good workout.

It’s seeing someone in a great mood that gets contagious.

It’s having a good laugh. 

It’s seeing a friend and having a long talk.

It’s looking at old photos.


I feel like nowadays, the focus is put on acquiring things, on going on amazing holidays, earning a lot of money, buying buying buying, growing on social media and comparing ourselves when actually all that we need to be happy are little things to make our day a better one.

And actually when you stop caring about these things, they you actually have a better shot at being happier. Because then you stop always waiting for more and start caring about what can actually make you happy in the long run.

    The smell of white grapes, laughter of babies, successes of my children, mango popsicles, sunrises/sunsets, white noise apps, calla lily, when the words flow easily
