Th 5 Skincare Products I Can’t Be Without

I realized when I was finishing one of my skincare products and didn’t have a Sephora close-by (and could not be arsed to put an online order) that without some of my products, I was freaking out a bit. And even more when after a few days of not having any of this product left, my skin started to be bad again. Damn it.

I hate being this over-shallow girl but the second my skin starts behaving badly I lose a bit of self-confidence and self-love. I feel ugly and bad and I think that’s why taking care of my skin started to be so important when I finally found out the right products for me.

Garnier micellar water homeoplasmine

One of the biggest issues I had when I started wearing makeup was that I wasn’t using effective products to take it off. I thought it was all wiped out when in reality it wasn’t and I was not double cleansing at the time as I was still new to the beauty world. When I discovered the Garnier micellar cleansing water my life changed. Finally a product that I could afford that takes off all of my makeup without leaving my skin feeling dry or oily! And now that they’ve come out with different variations for different skin types, I’m all the more happier.

Another old favorite that has been constantly in my life for the past 5-6 years I would say is Homeoplasmine. I currently have 3 tubes, one in my handbag, one on my beauty desk and one on my nightstand. And I need all three because otherwise my lips would die. I apply this on my lips about 3-4 times a day and this lasts for hours. Literally. Depending on if I’m prepping my lips for lipstick, wearing lipstick, wearing nothing else on or hydrating my lips for the night so I’ll get a Kylie Jenner effect in the morning, I’ll wear a thin or thick coat on and be good to go. Unfortunately, I believe this is only sold in French pharmacies but if you can get a hold of it, do. You’ll thank me later, especially with the colder months coming, this is a life saver for any dry part of your body, nose, lips, cuticles, knuckles, elbows, … anywhere really.

pixi glow tonic l'oréal aloe vera hydra genius moisturizer

The oldest newest skincare product I can’t live without is the one mentioned in the first paragraph. The amazing Pixi Glow Tonic, if you haven’t read my review on this, you won’t know that I “suffer from” Keratosis Pilaris which is a skin condition on my upper arms mostly and on the side of my face where the pores get clogged up by a buildup of keratin, blocking the opening of the hair follicles, creating small often red bumps (also called chicken skin). I’ve always been self-conscious about it and especially on my face so when I did some research and read that that a chemical exfoliant can do the trick I ran to Sephora and got the smallest version of it to try it out.

This has made the biggest difference in my skin (you can to the review to see before and after photos) and I’m forever grateful for this product. So when it ran out in August, I almost cried. It took a few years for me to be able to go to Sephora so in the meanwhile I only used it about three times a week which is not enough for me and the bumps made a comeback. After about three weeks of using it again everyday, the bumps and scaring that when with it (if often creates small pimples) are almost all gone and I’m a happy bare-face gal again.

A couple months after, I started using the l’Oréal Hydra Genius aloe vera moisturizing gel and I’m now on my second one. I also have a full review on this but long story short I love it. It’s so thin on the skin but super moisturizing, it doesn’t clog up my pores nor makes me oilier. I’m going to try out other moisturizer in the future but this one will remain a strong favorite and a drugstore alternative I’ll keep in stock.

Caudalie instant detox mask

Being French, I was a bit ashamed when I realized after watching a video from Estée Lalonde that I had never tried any Caudalie products. After doing some research as to where I could purchase them in Grenoble, I ended up picking two products to start with and the Instant Detox Mask was one of them. I love this product so much. It’s so effective and nice to use, it doesn’t irritate my skin but gets rid of everything that is not supposed to be on my face. I use it a couple times a week and thank Caudalie every time for this amazing product.
