Summer dress, sweating upper lip, back up deodorant, sunscreen on, yep, summer is definitely here.

It has been very hot here in the South-east of France, the temperatures have been wavering from 31°C to 38°C and let me tell you it’s never comfortable when you wear a full face of makeup in this heat. Until the end of last week I just decided to use my most sweat/oil proof foundations like the Tarte 24h Amazonian clay or my Maybelline Fit me Matte and Poreless and I was fine with it.

But For the past few days, I just couldn’t. I didn’t wear any makeup at the weekend because this girl was wearing the least everything possible in a messy bun lying on the catch and moving as little as possible with the fan right on me – and my boyfriend, I’m nice. However for work, I always feel like I should make more of an effort to look somewhat presentable and not like a complete sweaty mess (because no, we don’t have the air con so it’s about 28°C in the office in the morning and between 32 and 35°C in the afternoon) so I make a little more effort.

I’ve come up with a quick minimal routine to make me look less tired but still help my skin with this heat.

First off, very important: sunscreen. With the sun being so strong and me not wanting to look 75 too early, I make a point to wear sunscreen. I’m currently using the Garnier which used to be fine for me but I’m starting to feel like it’s not the best as I look a bit too greasy towards the afternoon and makeup doesn’t sit well on it. Any recommendations?

Then, I will use a concealer for under my eyes, my nose and between my brows – and if necessary my chin – to conceal and brighten a bit. I use my Bourjois Healthy mix concealer before using the Bourjois Healthy Mix powder (love this range, the foundation is amazing as well).

Brows, I always do my brows as it frames the eyes. I use the NYX brow Tame and Frame pomade with an angled brush and if I feel like it I will highlight the brow bone a little with a light champagne eyeshadow.

For the eyes, it depends. I already have oily hooded eyelids so already generally everything creases easily  with this heat I end up with a line. What I do is either just leave them bare, or use a light color like a pink or, I’ll use my blush. Then I put my trusty Kiko Volume mascara on and that’s it for the eyes.

Back to the face, I like to have some dimension and color so I’ll usually use a blush from my NYX blush palette (you can read my review and look at swatches here) or a new blush I’ll review soon – stay tuned! I also like to put a little bit of highlighter from the Rimmel Kate Palette contour on the top of my cheekbones and sometimes above my brows – I don’t even bother to put it on my cupid’s bow because of how sweaty my upper lip gets.

For lips, I’ll put some lip balm or tinted lip balm or, two new products I’m trying out and again, will review soon.

There you have it, a 5 min minimal makeup routine.
